Frequently Asked Questions

Registration is free and available for official youth hockey associations, clubs and leagues.  You can register the winners of your local challenge in the menu options under Submit Finalists.  All registrations should be submitted at least two weeks prior to the championship event.

Organizing a shot challenge for your association is easy.  Select a time throughout any seasonal practice to conduct your first round shootout challenge.  Set aside one half of your arena to allow challengers to participate while keeping those waiting their turn on the other side.

Ensure at minimum 2-3 volunteers to carry out judging shots, retrieving pucks and organizing the challenger line.  Ensure each participant presents their registration score sheets.  Score sheets must be filled out, with full player information, including full name, age, gender and parental signature prior to participation.  Be sure to have extra sheets available during the event.

Give parents and athletes plenty of advance notice of your challenge to provide opportunity to practice and prepare.

Roughly one to two hours depending on the size of your organization.  If necessary, set up two opposing stations on one end of the rink to improve time.  The more volunteers to organize flow, puck retrieval and judging is important to allow a swift and successful event.

Once you've submitted your finalists, keep record of runner-ups in each category.  If a finalist is unable to compete in the advancing competition, their position is forfeit to the runner-up.

There are many styles of shooter tutors.  Depending on your version, opt for the easiest and largest openings on equal sides of the net for one point.  Typically there are other areas, with medium difficulty on each side that can account for two points.  Be sure to opt for a singular middle or most difficult opening(s) to award three points.

Ensure challengers are always aware of the points system to ensure fair competition.
